52 Weeks of Happiness Week 34

It's Tuesday. WAY late for the post, but I'm here.

I'm late because I haven't sat down to upload a picture for this week, so I'll publish this now, and stick a picture in later...

But for this week, it was organizing my hubby's 30th birthday weekend.

On Friday night, his best grad school friend came in from Chattanooga to visit. That was the biggest surprise of the weekend.

Saturday night was the big surprise party. We went to a new (to us) restaurant and had about 12 of his friends there. Balloons, a photo guest book, pictures spread all over the table from birth to a few months ago, a few presents here and there, the best cupcakes in Memphis, and lots of laughs.

It took up my whole week, and I loved every minute of it.

It's so easy to do something like that for someone you love so much.

52 Weeks of Happiness Week 26

This week, I tried to find a seemingly tiny pleasure. It's something I did that made me very grateful for my life and very happy.

Hubby left his lunch at home. I leave after he does, so I grabbed it.

I texted him, "Have your lunch, will bring it to you around 12:15."

BECAUSE I CAN.

Because with my new part-time job, (same job, new to part-time) I have the ability to leave at noon each day. I got my stuff together, headed over to hubby's work and was able to have 20 minutes with him while he ate.

So here's my pic. Before I left my work, car is in Park, time (5 minutes fast), and the lunch. Small pleasure that meant a whole lot more.

What small pleasures are there in your life?

52 Weeks of Happiness Week 21

Yes, you are supposed to have a picture to go with your happiness post.

I don't this week.

I just didn't think to do it! Hubby and I had a great date last Friday. We had matinee tickets for the final Harry Potter film, and we had a lovely dinner afterwards. I guess though we see each other a lot in passing, a little in the mornings, more at night, and even more on weekends, there is not a lot of real date time. Men think all time is quality time, but women really want a little something more...

We watched Harry Potter in 3D, mostly because we could, but it wasn't all that necessary. I loved watching it with him because we read the book when we were (very briefly) broken up (the second time). There is one certain character that dies, and back then when the book was new, he said to me as we got back together, "all I wanted to do during that part was call you. I knew you would understand how sad it was!" So seeing the movie together was more than just a movie.

We had dinner at Bonefish, which we love since it's not too pricey but has a very date-like atmosphere. When we got home, our little guy was fast asleep, and we soon were too.

Lovely, lovely date!

52 Weeks of Happiness Week 19

It's Friday and I'm here for week 19!!

I love summer. I love reading. I love summer reading...you know, those fluffy books -- beach reads. Let me tell you--they are home-reads to me. Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer reads to me. And there is no reason I shouldn't read them whenever I want!

I love getting in bed, hubby's usually already there, and we both sit in silence for half an hour or an hour, reading. Totally different books. We're in different worlds. The other day, I was in Nora Roberts Wedding World. Hubby was in an Administering a School for Learning Disabilities world. And yet, we were really close.

He thought I was a little crazy to take a picture, but I knew this week had to be about these intimate moments, even in different worlds.

Bliss!

52 Weeks of Happiness, Week 12

There was a great deal of wonderfulness in this past week. My son's show-off day at The Little Gym. Hubby's graduation. But what REALLY brought be tremendous happiness was one major thing: appreciation.

Hubby is about to start a new job. He's moving from teacher and assistant Head of Middle School to a Head of School position. And he's 29. We've had some amazing things happen where we both work now (and met), and well, he's always the one who throws the thoughtful goodbyes to the retiring teachers and such.

This time, someone did it for him. I got to be a part of a surprise assembly with the entire Middle School, and I witnessed how much these students love and respect him. And THAT made me giddy with gladness.

Everyone likes to be appreciated. Hubby is the least egotistical male I have ever met. And he has his moments. But this was humbling to him. We had some people from the past come out (former teachers and workers), and family. Then there was a slide show. Then came the 8th grade drama class skit...ALL ABOUT HIM. Then he was given a trophy.

It was really, really necessary and VERY special. Seeing how hard he has worked, I was just so happy to see him really be honored. He got MANY standing ovations, and here's the pic of one of the many.

What a wonderful day.

52 Weeks of Happiness, Week 10

I hate to say it, but my week was kinda mundane. And usual. And though I find a little happiness in many, many things throughout the week, it's not quite the thing you take a picture of, so my picture only comes from last night.

And this is about things that make you wildly happy, right? That was last night.

A fellow teacher threw a Cinco de Mayo party.

Awesome part #1: It was 4 minutes from my house. SCORE!
Awesome Part #2: I got to bring my 16 month old!
Awesome part #3: Hubby came!
Awesome part #4: Hubby took son home, mama got to stay!

I stayed with good work girlfriends until 10:30. On a Thursday.

Here's a fun pic from the event. The much needed lovely wonderful event!
